A couple years ago, I had an unfortunate shopping experience. I made a major purchase from a local company. Shortly thereafter, it was discovered that the product was faulty. The product was under warranty and so naturally I brought it back and asked for it to be replaced. For months, I was given the “run-around” with the company claiming that they could not find any problem with the product. When they eventually acknowledged that the product was indeed faulty, they refused to take it back immediately and promised that they will get back to me. After months of following up, the Company still did nothing to resolve the situation.
I was left with nowhere to turn. There was no Government agency in Grenada that I could have turned to for protection against that kind of unsavory behavior. Going to the courts for redress would have been a long and costly process with some lawyers refusing to take on consumer cases for one reason or the other. In speaking to people, I realized that this kind of unethical behavior is widespread in Grenada.
This motivated me to search for a solution that would help both consumers and businesses. It was out of this vision that GRENCAF was born.
